Apr 02, 2017 Springfield Pit Bull Allowed to Kill Owner's Cat

Springfield - A pit bull owner betrayed her cat's trust and love and allowed her pit bull to kill her cat.  Found on facebook.

Horrible Betrayal.

As usual with pit bull nuts, one of her friends asked if the pit bull was OK, hoping the fatally mauled cat didn't manage to hurt pittie poo as pittie poo was in the middle of ripping her apart.

Aug 16, 2016 Elwood Pit Bull Kills Owner’s Cat; Owner lies to dump pit bull

This is how the story should read.  You’ll notice that the original story doesn’t focus on the fact that a pit bull evidently broke its leg because it was so intent on killing a cat.  Which it evidently did.
Elwood Illinois doesn't need pit bulls
Elwood - Starr Vesely’s pit bull killed her cat, so she wanted to get rid of the pit bull.  She called the Will county Animal Control and told them that the pit bull was a stray that she’d taken in and it immediately killed her cat and she wanted them to come get it.  The shelter said she had to call police.  She did, and the pit bull was removed.  The shelter found that the pit bull also had a broken leg and Vesely says that happened while the pit bull was chasing the cat in order to kill it.

However, photos of the supposed stray were found on Vesely’s facebook page from as far back as last October.  Vesely was charged with making a false report to police.

Sep 10, 2015 Decatur Pit Bulls Attacking Pets And Nothing Being Done

Decatur – Pit bulls are holding an entire neighborhood hostage.  They frequently get loose and they are attacking people and pets and have killed a cat on its own porch.  “One had one paw and one had the other.”

Another 11 year old gentle dog was attacked in her owner’s arms.  Other people just don’t let their dogs outside anymore.

Animal Control took statements for reports on Thursday morning.  A Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy also talked with residents. But nothing is being done according to the news report.

Jun 12, 2013 Tom Loewy: Pit bull attack kills beloved pet

Bob is on the right RIP
Abingdon-Bob was a particular feline.
He liked to get up early in the morning. He liked to make sure his owners, Lissa Mings and Bobby Landon, filled his food bowl. And when weather allowed, he liked to be let outside for a lap around the house before settling on the front porch to gaze and blink at the world as it passed through Abingdon.
“That was Bob. He was a good cat,” Landon said Monday afternoon. “He had his own personality. Some people might not understand this — but Bob was a big part of our family.”
You may have noticed Landon spoke of Bob in the past tense. That’s because the black cat that brought his own indelible personality to the house Mings and Landon share at 411 W. South St. is dead.
Bob died Saturday morning after being attacked by a pit bull.

Nov 07, 2012 Loose pit bulls attack and kill cat un Ukrainian Village

Chicago - "This morning around 8 am Smith Park resident was getting out of her car in the 2500 block of Superior when she observed 2 off-leash pit bulls heading towards her. When she didn't see an owner, she quickly went inside her fence. At this point a stray cat that several neighbors feed crossed their path. They immediately pounced on the cat killing her. Carrying the dead cat, the dogs headed away from the neighbor, so she ran back to her car and started following them."

Apr 07, 2011 Danville Letter to Editor: Dogs Kill Pet Cat name Pumpkin

Letters to the Editor

Editor:

DANVILLE — On March 19, two large dogs were running around the Holiday Hills subdivision. They entered my yard on Hillside Drive and killed my precious cat, Pumpkin. He was the smartest, most adventurous boy. He was the alpha in the house and in my heart. He was unhappy being confined by walls, so I let him spend time in the backyard. My heart is devastated, and a part of me has died.

I ask all residents of Holiday Hills and Danville to call animal control or the Humane Society if they see these two dogs, or any dog running loose. One is a brown pit-bull mix. The other is a white Labrador mix. Since these dogs have tasted blood, they will kill again. The next victim might be your small dog, cat or baby. These dogs are a danger to small children and infants.

The dogs who killed my cat did not wear collars. Do they have up-to-date rabies vaccines? If anyone knows any animal that is abused or neglected, please call the police or Humane Society. What if you, the human, were created as a dog who had to spend all its time alone or always tied to a tree or was hungry?

These dogs may have been hungry. I chased them away before they ate my Pumpkin. I quickly took my baby to a clinic, but a 10-pound cat cannot survive a bite to the throat from a 75-pound dog. If any person does claim these wild beasts, he or she should pay my veterinarian’s and cremation bills.

Danville does have a leash law. Please, everyone needs to help to put a stop to unsupervised dogs before another life gets injured or killed or causes a vehicle accident.

Sep 25, 2007 Pit Bulls Invade Home Kill Pet Cat in Front of Children

Letter to the Editor:
I have been a long time supporter for the ASPCA, Humane Society and other animal-caring organizations.

When I read the story in the Pantagraph Sept. 19 about loose pit bulls breaking into the house and mauling one of their four helpless cats to death, while the mom and her children helplessly looked on, it made me so upset and angry.

We're always hearing of horror stories involving these pit bulls, mainly because of irresponsible owners who have given this breed their bad reputation. That's why in this small community, we need to make a example of this heart-breaking incident and hold the dog owners responsible for the grief they have caused this family, their children and the family's own pets.

What's the problem here, when responsible pet owners can't even keep their own pets safe in their own home?

This horrific incident by the way, happened in Meadows, which is only 10 miles down the road from us here in Chenoa.

This needs to be properly addressed in order to avoid any further pain, heartache and needless cruelty in the future, for those who cannot defend themselves! I am a concerned pet owner and loyal supporter of all our animal welfare organizations.

Aug 07, 1987 Chicago 17-year-old Pit Bull Owner Charged for Attack

Chicago - Chicago police Thursday arrested a 17-year-old West Side boy after several police officers fired as many as seven shots into his charging pit-bull terrier. Yashir Figures, 17, of 631 N.
Leamington Ave., was charged with interfering with police officers.

Nine policemen had responded to a report of a pit-bull fight in Figures` back yard. When they arrived, Figures and a man were ``teasing (the dogs) with a cat, building them up to this fight,`` said Austin District Patrolman Vincent Romano. ``And the cat was demolished.``

Figures ran into the house with his dog, and police then caught the other dog, authorities said. His owner fled in a car. Figures` younger brother removed Yashir`s dog from the house and tied him up to a post in the back yard, police said. But the dog broke loose and charged at least one officer.
