East Peoria - East Peoria Police shot and killed that dog, Bella, an eight-year-old pit bull last week. The dog allegedly attacked two people and charged at an officer. Now more than 2,500 people have signed a petition demanding justice for the dog.

The article notes the city codes for designating a dog dangerous and vicious. These codes are taken verbatim from Anna's Law, the state law which allows dogs like Chaos the pit bull to bite 3 people before being removed from the owner and put down (fingers crossed). Anna's Law protects dangerous dogs and owners like the one in the following story whose stated credo is "I can do whatever the f--- I want."

(T)he dog, Chaos, was taken into custody by Tazewell County Animal Control. Jolly said the dog had been deemed “dangerous,” for biting people twice before. In January 2001, an 18-year-old was bitten on the face, causing puncture wounds; in October, a 20-year-old was bitten on the nose and face, causing lacerations.

May 11, 2010 Terrier Recovering After Pit Bull Attack
Spike shows off his cast. The terrier’s leg was broken when a pit bull bit him.
PEKIN — Spike The Man Jumping Bean (his full name) is a small terrier who was recently attacked and bitten by another dog, according to his master, David Brown.
“I just call him Spike for short. He’s my companion. I love him — we go everywhere together,” said the 49-year-old man who travels around town in a motorized chair. “Spike’s lovable.”
But Spike got bitten by a pit bull recently and now is wearing a cast on his leg.
“(The pit bull) was loose and out chasing dogs in the neighborhood. Some people saw it and called the police. I didn’t realize it until it was too late, but he started chasing Spike, so I grabbed Spike and (the pit bull) jumped up and started biting him like he was going to eat him. That’s why Spike’s leg is in a cast.”
