Chicago - Last week, someone stole a 7-month-old German Shepherd out of a yard in the Austin neighborhood, and three days later the dog turned up dead — its head in one trash can and its body in another.
“They took the dog to fight a pit bull and chopped the dog’s head off,” he initially told me.

Jan 18, 2011 City to bite back, committee drafting Joey's law
Wilmington –– The Wilmington City Council is expected to move quickly to approve provisions defining and regulating dangerous dogs. An ordinance amendment was before the council Tuesday night for a first reading, and could very well be approved at the Feb. 1 council meeting.

Joey has been attacked three times by a neighbor's roaming pit bull terrier-shepherd mix since May - the last time, in mid-December, Joey had seven gaping wounds, requiring many sutures and hundreds of dollars in veterinary care. Sartore was certain the big dog was trying to kill Joey.
