Jan 08, 1891 Chicago Bulldog Attacks Boy and is Shot by Police

Chicago - Thomas Messenger, a 16-year-old boy living at No. 3714 Shields avenue, was severely bitten by a vicious bulldog near his home Tuesday night.  The animal had to be shot by Officer Dillon, of the Twenty-second Street Station, before the boy could be rescued.  A doctor promptly cauterized the wounds to prevent rabies.
