Jun 24, 2016 Kankakee felon uses his pit bull to fend off police

Kankakee - An intoxicated felon, WILLIE C. FELTON,  was arrested after firing shots at a trailer home.  When police arrived, he used his pit bull to fend them off and escape in his truck.  He later ditched the truck with the pit bull in it.

UPDATE - A look at this irresponsible pit bull fanatic's facebook pages shows that she has a menagerie of animals including birds, rats and dogs, but begs for money to pay the insurance deductible for her daughter's health care.  Also - she fostering another pit bull - this one straight off the chain and supposedly not fed well and she lets her daughter hug on its neck.

Kankakee - A woman who took in a stray pit bull mix she named Comet and let sleep in her bed the first night she had it, wanted to keep the pit bull even though it attacked a neighbor child a week after she got it.

The pit bull mix was so highly aggressive at animal control the woman was told it must be put down, though she had wished to bring the pit bull back to her home to be with her children.

May 29, 2013 Kankakee pit bull kills chihuahua

Kankakee-A Chihuahua was killed by a pit bull in the 400 block of River Street at 11:07 a.m. Saturday. The owner of the Chihuahua reported the incident to Kankakee police. He said he was walking his two dogs when he noticed the pit bull chasing squirrels. The man was able to get one of the dogs to his home before the pit bull grabbed the other and ran away. Kankakee County Animal Control took the pit bull.

Mar 13, 2013 Pembroke Township Pit Bulls Seriously Mauled a Cow

Pembroke Township - A cow was attacked by a pack of pit bulls in Pembroke Township on Sunday afternoon.

About 12 cows got loose from a farm on 3000S Road, and one was attacked near 17500 E. 7000S Road by six or seven pit bulls at 1:45 p.m., according to Kankakee County sheriff's police.

A neighbor who witnessed the attack called police.  The cow was found bleeding in a ditch and Kankakee County Animal Control was called to the scene, police said. The cow is expected to survive.

The dogs, described as very vicious, reportedly were picked up by a gray van, police said.

Aggravated assault

* Tomarious Q. Riley, 18, of 1170 E. Court St., Kankakee, was arrested May 9 near Washington Park in Kankakee for aggravated assault, aggravated battery and resisting or obstructing a police officer, according to Kankakee police reports. He was arrested after a person called police at 9:47 p.m. May 9 from the 300 block of West Stone Street in Kankakee to report that Riley let his pit bull run loose in the park and encouraged the dog to attack the man.

Manteno - The owner of a pit bull that attacked and killed a poodle in Manteno earlier this month is facing fines ranging for $100 to $750.

The March 4 incident in the 300 block of N. Walnut St., was the third attack involving pit bulls in Manteno since April of 2008 according to Lt. Joel Whalen of the Manteno Police Department.

William Bell had his pit bull euthanized on March 5 following the attack, Whalen said. He has also paid fines for allowing his dog to run free and for not being current on its rabies shots.

A six-year-old boy was badly bitten on April 20, 2008, by a neighbor's pit bull in the 300 block of W. Adams Street. The dog owned by Clarak Demierra was later euthanized.

Also on Aug. 27 of last year, two pit bulls, owned by Dewayne and Laura Tracy, attacked a dog and its owner who were walking in the 400 block of West Division Street. The woman was bitten on the hand trying to separate the dogs and her dog received injuries to its legs and body. Those dogs were also euthanized according to Whalen.
