Galesburg - "The echoes from the single shot fired Sunday night on Day Street will ring out for a long time.
The incident — Galesburg Police Officer Maurice Johnson’s shooting of a pit bull named Aries — is sure to divide the community."

"Police probably hate calls involving dogs as much as any other call,” he said. “But the fact is our community has to come to grips with how we are going to enforce our laws concerning pets. This is something lurking in the shadows and it bothers me.

"We had an (earlier) incident on Pearl Street where it came to light an entire neighborhood was terrorized by dogs."
