Bloomington – In early February, 10-year-old Justin Guffy of Clinton needed 70 stitches to close a wound over his eye after he was bitten by a family-owned pit bull dog that was tied up.
DeWitt County animal control administrator Tamara McFeeters said the dog was up to date on all required shots but it was the second such attack by the dog.

Mar 05, 2009 Clinton Pit Bull Seriously Attacks Boy

Clinton - A DeWitt County animal control officer says they picked up a pit bull around 3:00 p.m. at 119 north Lincoln Street in Clinton after the dog had bitten the young boy on the left side of his face just below the eye.

The boy's uncle witnessed the attack and says his nephew, Justin Michael Duffy, was taken to St. John's Hospital in Bloomington for treatment. No word on the extent of his injuries.

The pit bull is now at the DeWitt County animal shelter under a ten day evaluation. Animal control is
still investigating the attack.
