Regina Todd filed a recent lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Felicia and Akbar Townsend Sr., alleging negligence and violations of the Illinois Animal Control Act.
According to the complaint, Todd was legally on defendants' property on Ridgeway Avenue on June 22, 2014, when their pit bull attacked her without provocation. She claims the defendants failed to supervise and control the dog, leading her to suffer injuries and scars to her right hand, which ultimately led to the partial amputation of her thumb.
Todd seeks damages in excess of $50,000, along with costs, and is represented by attorney Maxwell J. Brown of Disparti Law Group in Chicago.
